It’s not easy to have confidence in your writing. Especially if you’re yet to publish. Writing is a vulnerable art. You’re exposing the inner workings of your mind for the world to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the first thing to understand is that your writing doesn’t have to be perfect. Even the best selling authors and writers, draft, re-draft, and rewrite before even their editors get to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then there’s an inherent urge that we have to please people. That held me back quite a bit and had me mulling over plots for weeks because I was trying to find that magic culmination of my ideas that everyone would enjoy. However, there is no way to please everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Write What Feels Good To You<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Brandon Sanderson one of my favorite authors, writes every plot<\/a> of his book. The branching paths that he doesn’t know if he’ll like or will be accepted, he’ll write those out, even if it’s rudimentary. Then, he picks out the pieces that he himself likes, that are true to himself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephen King said, “If you intend to write as truthfully as you can, your days as a member of polite society are numbered.” He meant to say that you really just can’t please anyone, and you have to be truthful to yourself to succeed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter was rejected 12 times before someone decided to take a chance on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Have Confidence in Your Writing Now<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Don’t wait until you’re a published author to gain confidence in your writing. Don’t worry about pleasing everyone. The fear of failure and self-doubt will hinder you from reaching your greatest creative potential. Don’t think about confidence, or self-doubt, simply delve into the creative depths of your mind, and write!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
